Commemorate the life and legacy of Queen Elizabeth II with this 1952–2022 double-dated $20 fine silver coin. When she acceded to the throne, Queen Elizabeth pledged to dedicate her life to her subjects. This was a pledge that she kept through an extraordinary 70-year reign that helped to shape and define an era.
The design is a mix of elements that represent tradition and history. Queen Elizabeth is seen as she appeared on her coronation day in 1953 wearing the imperial state crown. She is flanked by elegant flourishes that combine the floral emblems of Canada (the maple leaf) and the United Kingdom (Tudor rose, Scottish thistle, Welsh daffodil and Irish shamrock).
The obverse features a new tribute design combining the four effigies of Queen Elizabeth that have graced Canadian coinage since her coronation in 1953. The effigies span from showing the young Queen at the age of 27 at her coronation to the most recent effigy used through her 2022 platinum jubilee in 2022.
