This beautiful 1 Oz Silver coin is dedicated to the national hero of Athens, Theseus. Theseus offered to join fourteen other Athenians to go to Crete as sacrifices to the Minotaur. Although, in an unforseeable twist and with Ariadne's assistance, he managed to defeat the monster inside its Labyrinth. The coin has a beautiful design, has a Proof quality and comes in a case, along with the Certificate of Authenticity. Limited mintage of 500 pieces worldwide.
The reverse of the coin features theseus intent on driving his sword through the Minotaur. On the background, the figure of Ariadne, who helped Theseus in this incredible feat, against's a background of the labyrinth and a stylized outline of the labyrinth. Also on the background is Ariadne, holding the famed thread in her hand, symbolizing the ingenious way they adopted to achieve their exploit. At the bottom of the reverse, the inscriptions: "THESEUS" - the name of the coin as well as the protagonist's. The obverse of the coin depicts the public seal of NIUE and the inscriptions: "2024"
